The weekend went not as expected when on Saturday no wind would find its way into the English Bay effectively depriving me of my weekly dose of sailing that I had been looking forward to enthusiasticly. But that way, I was able to see my first live USC Football game in its entirety. Ok, it was only Washington, but hey ...
It was also good, because Friday night had been pretty hard in terms of partying. Thus far, I kind of felt I didn't get my share of parties around here due to lack of like-minded folks. That day, though I couldn't complain. First, a birthday party in one of the undergrad residences and then much later we took a bus to a house party of someone's friend's friend or so.
Yeahah, finally a house party - L.A. style. With loads of people I hadn't met ever before and kegs in the back. The Canadians though are not as laid back as the folks at SC were, not as welcoming to strangers that invade their party by the dozen. This may be due to the ridiculously high beer prices here, who knows ...
So, wandering around I got into a conversation with some Canadians that were - typical for their kind - hockey fanatics. This one guy was a little too fanatic and got almost aggressive when I was unable to name him the first offensive line of the Vancouver Canucks ... not cool! Well, nothing another beer couldn't overcome ...
All in all a nice party. Also because RCMP (which is the very soft version of LAPD ... roughly speaking) only drove by without crashing the place. Oh, and did I mention that the campus police doesn't do shit around here. It's so much nicer without useless DPS around ...
